Pupil Premium & Free School Meals
The Pupil Premium Grant (or PPG) is a payment made to schools by the Department for Education that forms part of our annual school budget. It is intended to support the achievement and welfare of those young people eligible for free school meals and from July 2014 is also available to children who have been adopted from care in England.
Not all children who are eligible for the PPG experience underperformance in terms of attainment or achievement at school. However, their need for personal, pastoral or for enhanced educational access can be addressed through use of Pupil Premium. For example, a pupil who needs more challenge in a subject may attend enrichment activities.
